Over 50 women from the business world joined together to celebrate International Women’s Day at the House of Commons, on 5th March. The sell-out breakfast event was organised by West London Business (WLB), the sub-region’s Chamber of Commerce to celebrate women in business.
Hosted by Parliamentary Under Secretary for Health Services, Ann Keen, MP and Chaired by Gita Katbamna, Head of Change Management for GlaxoSmithKline, guests enjoyed an inspirational and innovative speech from Female Business Speaker of the Year, Helen Pointer, who even produced caricatures of each woman to take away with them.
Delegates were also given an unexpected treat when Ann Keen MP took them on an impromptu tour of the House of Commons, following her interesting and humorous insight into the workings and traditions of Parliament. Afterwards, the women had the opportunity to network, helping them to increase their business contacts and potentially generating vital new business.
Head of Events and organiser, Helen Emanuel of West London Business commented:
“This was a really fantastic, relaxed event and our speakers injected a lot of humour into the day which allowed for some extremely active networking afterwards. It’s so important for women in business to come together and share their ideas and experiences and West London Business is pleased to provide an outlet for this to happen. We will definitely be building upon the success of this event.”
