Park Royal is bursting at the seams with barely any vacant space – a victim of its success, as well as the recent displacement of businesses in Victoria Rd by HS2. There will be more displacement of businesses in the Old Oak area as a result of housing development.
To ensure new businesses can come to Park Royal, and established businesses grow on the estate, PRBG is working closely with OPDC and other partners to ensure that there is a clearly defined strategy and action plan for intensification of the industrial estate. This demands learning from multi-storey warehousing in other parts of the world – and intensifying the use of existing buildings (for example, through extensions and mezzanines). PRBG’s Sept 2017 OPDC Local plan response emphasised the urgency of work in this area and a more active approach given the land assembly that is likely to be required..
