As of today you can apply to use the Kickstart scheme to create 6-month job placements for young people (aged 16-24) who are currently on Universal Credit and at risk of long-term unemployment. The job placements should support the participants to develop the skills and experience they need to find work after completing the scheme.
Funding is available to cover 25 hours a week for 100% of the relevant National Minimum Wage for 25 hours a week, plus associated employer National Insurance contributions and employer minimum automatic enrolment contributions. There is also £1,500 per job placement available for setup costs, support and training.
How to apply?
Funding is available following a successful application process. Direct applications must be for a minimum of 30 job placements. If you are able to offer a smaller number of Kickstart job placements, which we suspect will be the reality for the majority of companies in north-west London, please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org in the coming days, as West London Business will help to form groups of job placements across a number of employers, which will enable your business to access the scheme and benefit from young talent, as well as helping to give our young people’s careers a kickstart at this difficult time.
If you would like guidance on how to support the development of the employability skills of young people on Kickstart placements, please contact West London Business and we can connect you with a specialist partner organisation.
